Pool Energy Law Dominates FL Show

Bay Area Pool Service sent ten employees to Orlando in late February to attend educational sessions and get up to speed on all that was new in the industry to better serve you going forward. After debriefing here its clear one topic was at the top of all lists: The New Florida Pool Energy Efficiency Law.

To be totally fair it’s not exactly a new law, it was passed in 2008 under Governor Crist, but the legislature has repeatedly kicked back the implementation until March 15, 2012. The law which we have previously discussed in our Blog affects all residential pools in the State. At the FSPA FL Pool Show we saw manufacturers and suppliers who had many products designed to meet these new laws and provide pool owners more options in energy efficiency than has ever been available in the past.

We see this as a good thing, and as long as the quality and the payback (value) on these items make sense we will be bringing them to you in our product lineup. Rest assured we won’t bring you items that are pie in the sky with no real payback in energy savings- Solyndra, algae fuel, electric cars, etc. If it doesn’t pay for itself while under its warranty period we won’t sell it as energy efficient. If you have questions about the new Florida law or the Federal VGB law regarding drain covers, please feel free to call or email our office to get the answers you need.
